Jakie sterowniki (i skąd je wziąć) mam zainstalować?

ale instalator wykrył niezgodność wersji kernela (coś o cpp 4.1 i 4.3).

Głownie chodzi o directx bo mi gra nie działa.

Pomiń to ostrzeżenie o wersji gcc, nie dociągaj niczego z kernel.org i jedź dalej, nie pozwól na modyfikacje xorg.conf, chyba że chcesz ale zrób kopię.
A DirectX, co on ma wspólnego z Linuksem?

Może nie DirectX ale jak to nazywa PlayOnLinux - akceleracja 3D ("Nie masz włączonej akceleracji 3D")
