Nagrywarka cd/dvd przez usb niewidoczna w systemie

Witam
Kupiłem sobie kabelek usb sata/pata firmy Blurain, działał dobrze z dyskami, nagrywarka też była widoczna.
Nagrywałem płytę przy pomocy k3b i dałem weryfikację zapisu. Nośnik RW był już stary i trochę porysowany.
Program wypisał parę prób ponownego odczytu sektorów aż wreszcie trafił na coś "grubego" no i nagrywarka zniknęła z systemu. Wyłączałem jej zasilanie, wyłączałem interfejs usb, restartowałem komputer. Urządzenie scd0 dalej występuje, można zamontować płytę, ale k3b ani systemowy asystent nagrywania nie znajdują urządzenia nagrywającego.
