dziwna jakość wyświetlanego obrazu

Jest to mój pierwszy post na tym forum, tak że witam wszystkich :)
Mam GeForce4 mx 440, sarge 3.1 r4, xorg, gnome.
Zainstalowałem sterowniki nvidia, rozdzielczość monitora i odświeżanie ustawiłem tak jak używałem pod windowsem (1024, 85Hz), ale wyświetlany obraz jest fatalnej jakości. oczy strasznie szybko sie męczą a obraz wygląda jakby był minimalnie rozmyty :| dłużej niż 30 minut nie da sie patrzeć na monitor:/
Nie wiem co może być nie tak, myślałem, że głównie od częstotliwości odświeżania monitora zależy zmęczenie wzroku (kontrast i jasność monitora jest identyczna jak pod win), a tu taki numer.
Znalazłem tu dużo przydatnych informacji na waszym forum, tak ze mam nadzieje ze również i tym razem uda sie naprawić problem :)

Jesteś pewien, że masz xorga? może się pomyliłeś z XFree86?

No i tak jest. Mi też kiedyś oczy bolały. Ustawiałeś częstotliwość odświeżania w gnome? a w pliku xorg.conf także?

niestety bez zmian:/
zauwazylem ze w ustawieniach srodowiska->rozdzielczosc ekranu wyswietlana jest rozdzielczosc 62 Hz, podczas gdy w zakladce NVIDIA settings ustawilem na 85 Hz. Monitor na bank jest ustawiony na 85, ale ciekawe skad tam taka wartosc z kosmosu..nie wazne spróbuje jeszcze pomieszac w ustawieniach, zjechac z kontrastem, zmienic jasnosc, moze to cos pomoze...
jeszcze jedno pytanko. gdm uruchamia sie w rozdzielczosci 1280x1024 bodajże, dopiero po zalogowaniu jest ustawiana rozdzielczosc 1024x768. gdzie zmienic rozdzielczosc dla gdm? wywalic z xorg'a, czy da sie zrobic jakis disabled czy cos..?

tutaj jako pierwszą masz wpisaną rozdzielczość
1280x1024 wiec to ona jest rozdzielczość domyślną, a po zalogowaniu zmienia Ci rozdzielczość na
1024x768, bo pewnie taką masz ustawioną rozdzielczość w Twoim profilu, wystarczy jak wykasujesz tą rozdzielczość 1280x1024, albo przeniesiesz ją na koniec.
