Witam.
Chciałem sobie zamienić metacity na inny menedżer okien (zainstalowałem Compiz), no ale do jego instalacji potrzebny jest xorg.conf, ale niestety po wydaniu polecenia:

Już ci napisano abyś się nie bawił w tworzenie pliku xorg.conf. Nie jest on do niczego potrzebny. Przecież według tego co przedstawiłeś nic się z Twoim systemem nie dzieje złego.

Jak chcesz sprawdzić działanie compiza pobierz sobie Knoppiksa.

Otrzymuję błąd o niemożności zmiany menedżera okien i restartuje gdm.

Przy zrobieniu tego w trybie klasycznego GNOME (Fallback) dzieje się coś, ale jedynym efektem są przezroczyste belki. To mi wyskoczyło:

PS 2:
W tym poradniku jest mowa o niekonieczności edycji pliku w przypadku nowszych sterowników xserver-xorg-video właśnie do Intela, ale powyższa moja informacja pokazuje, że problem jest dalej.

Edycja:
GNOME 3 to jakaś pomyłka, zainstalowałem KDE i wszystko działa bez problemu, xorg.conf faktycznie jest niepotrzebny. W ogóle to środowisko wydaje mi się teraz dużo lepsze od GNOME, jest bardziej uporządkowane. Dziękuję wszystkim za wszelkie sugestie, temat można chyba zamknąć.

Dopiero dzisiaj mogłem sprawdzić compiza.

Wiem, że temat teoretycznie zakończony, ale muszę jednak zwrócić honor GNOME 3, przynajmniej jeśli chodzi o tryb Fallback. Compiza da się jednak uruchomić, a rozwiązanie jest bardzo proste:
Należy otworzyć plik (oczywiście na prawach roota):

Kod: Zaznacz cały

/usr/share/gnome-session/sessions/gnome-fallback.session

Odnaleźć linijkę:

Kod: Zaznacz cały

DefaultProvider-windowmanager=metacity

i zamienić ją na:

Kod: Zaznacz cały

DefaultProvider-windowmanager=compiz

Wystarczy się wylogować i ponownie zalogować, a Compiz powinien ruszyć.
