Cześć.

To mój pierwszy post, więc witam wszystkich forumowiczów i gratuluje wiedzy jaką się tutaj dzielicie.

Problem z jakim się borykam to brak połączenia WiFi na laptopie Dell Q15R. Od tygodnia szukam informacji na forum i ciągle zadaję pytanie wujkowi Google, ale niestety nie mogę znaleźć odpowiedzi. Dlatego proszę Was o pomoc, ten post jest moją ostatnia deską ratunku.
Przyznam się, że z Debianem dopiero zacząłem przygodę. Wcześniej na próbę zainstalowałem Ubuntu 11.04 i wszystko było w porządku. Liczę na pomoc i z góry dziękuję.

Nic to nie da, w Squeeze jest zbyt stare jądro. Potrzebujesz jądra w wersji co najmniej 2.6.38 aby uruchomić tą kartę. Zalecana aktualizacja systemu do wersji testowej albo tylko aktualizacja jądra do wersji co najmniej 2.6.38.

Bez przesady. Z 2.6.32-34 powinno pójść.

W sieci wyszperałem, że nie. Zresztą - gdyby miało pójść to by poszło. Zwykle karta jest od razu widoczna przez polecenie:

Nawet jeśli nie ma firmware zainstalowanego, tyle że oczywiście nie działa. Jeśli karty nie widać, to znaczy że nie ma sterownika w jądrze. Gdyby to było u mnie, zacząłbym od aktualizacji jądra - z doświadczenia wiem, że sporo problemów takich jak ten potrafi się wtedy rozwiązać, bo dodają sterowniki do masy nowego sprzętu w każdej wersji.

Aktualizacja jądra do wersji 2.6.39 rozwiązała problem. Poprawieniu uległa także grafika (rozdzielczość).
Dziękuję za pomoc.

Ogólnie, zasada jest taka że w przypadku problemów ze sprzętem pierwsza rzecz jaką robimy to aktualizacja jądra do najnowszej dostępnej wersji. Dopiero gdy to nie pomoże szukamy dalej - nigdy na odwrót bo moze się okazać że sterownik już dawno jest i nie ma po co się trudzić nadaremnie.
