Niewiem jak zainstalować X'y [jesli tego niezrobilo automatycznie] i niemiem czy mam GDM czy KDM...

Musisz wkleić logi z xorga: /var/log/Xorg.0.log

xorg juz jest zainstalowany

Ja powiem szczerze, że dość dziwnie to wygląda. Kolega instaluje netinstall i nie instaluje xservera ale polecenie startx mu działa (działa w sensie, że nie pisze, że "command not found"). Dość dziwnie to wygląda. Jeżeli już jest xorg zainstalowany to wystarczy go ponownie skonfigurować i zainstalować GNOME czy KDE.

Nie do końca bo jeszcze istotną sprawą mogą być sterowniki do karty graficznej.
xcracker, napisz co za kartę posiadasz. Przy okazji wklej także /etc/X11/xorg.conf

Nie umiem zmienić tego pliku! Jestem teraz na XP. Nie mam jak skopiować. Podajecie jakieś polecenia jakim będę mógł ręcznie skonfigurować ten plik xorg.conf Wtedy Wam wkleję co trzeba.


Zrobiłem update/upgrade:
-jądra
-xorg'a
-gnome z gdm

po konfiguracji poleceniem dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg
nie mogę sie zapisać ustawienia...
najlepiej będzie jak ręcznie ustawie xorg.conf.

Wystarczy że otworzysz plik xorg.conf w jakimkolwiek edytorze.
W konsoli:

mcedit /etc/X11/xorg.conf

lub

nano /etc/X11/xorg.conf

pamiętaj żeby to zrobić jako root bo nie pozwoli zapisać zmian.

a w trybie graficznym, w edytorze tekstu

po konfiguracji xorg nie możesz zapisać zmian, ponieważ nie masz uprawnień, musisz dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg uruchomić z prawami root, czyli poprzedzić słowem sudo

sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg

tak samo musisz postąpić przy edycji pliku xorg.conf

AFAIK to sudo trzeba samemu najpierw skonfigurować - przynajmniej u mnie. Więc jeśli kolega nic z tym nie robił to sudo po prostu mu nie zadziała. Jeśli tak się stanie to wystarczy wpisać su podać hasło i już jesteś root.

najpierw zobacz jak masz ponazywane partycje, od razu zobaczysz gdzie masz system który Cię interesuje
