u mnie wygląda to niemalże identycznie ale też miałam problem z zamontowanie po resecie kompa i też widniał czerwony napis FAILED! dopiero w ten sposób udało mi sie zamontować dyski, gdzieś na to natrafiłam przez przypadek:

katalogi do których próbujesz montować istnieją ?? zakładam że pakiet ntfs-3g masz zainstalowany. czy oprócz napisu FAILED wyświetlają sie jakieś informacje odnośnie próby montowania ??
najlepiej wklej na forum zaw. pliku /var/log/dmesg

parametr force wymusza montowanie dysku gdy jest on "brudny" - tzn nie został poprawnie odmontowany przed zamknięciem systemu. potencjalnie grozi to utratą plików

Poszczególne katalogi istnieją.
PAkiet ntfs-3g jest zainstalowany, wielokrotnie był też przeinstalowywany.

Ok, sprawa się wyjaśniła. :P
Działa każde rozwiązanie, jest tylko jedno ale, które warto dodać do jakiegoś poradnika, gdyż... ktoś może się strasznie narobić, tak jak i ja się strasznie narobiłem.
Zarówno:

jak i:

/dev/hdc5       /mnt/hdc5       ntfs-3g defaults        0       0
będzie działać poprawnie. Zalecam więc wstawianie tego drugiego, gdyż jest znacznie prostsze (pewnie są i jakieś minusy, ale póki co działa).

Jaki więc był problem nie działających ntfs? Ano pratycje owe były źle zamkniete. Wystarczyło uruchomić na nich scandiska i wszystko stawało się ok. Bez żadnych problemów teraz wszystko działa. Przydałby się jeszcze automat sprawdzania ntfs, tak jak to jest z ext3. :P
