Zawsze w ustawieniach gnome miałem opcję wyłączania monitora po 5 minutach bezczynności. Niestety od jakiegoś czasu monitor przestał się wyłączać. Nie mam nawet pomysłu jaka może być tego przyczyna. W razie czego przedstawiam mojego /etc/X11/xorg.conf:

W Twoim pliku konfiguracyjnym nie występuje żadna opcja konfigurująca czas usypiania monitora.
W gnome za tę czynność odpowiada gnome-power-manager konfiguracji dokonujesz w gnome-power-preferences. Można to oczywiście uniezależnić od środowiska graficznego czy menedżera okien, dodając odpowiednie wpisy w konfiguracji xorg-a.
