Karta sieciowa działa, ale nie wykrywa sieci

Mam bezprzewodową kartę sieciową Atheros Communications Inc. AR242x 802.11abg Wireless PCI Express Adapter (rev 01) która wg polecenia iwconfig działa. Jednak, po wpisaniu
wyświetla komunikat:
i nie wykrywa mi żadnych sieci. Router jest dobrze skonfigurowany - u mojej siostry na Ubuntu wszystko działa.
